WHO WE ARE

Melissa McAllister

Co-Founder & CEO

Melissa believes in elevating the craft of podcasting through creative collaboration, expert production, top-line reporting, and technical fidelity. Her journey began as Managing Partner at Vacation Island Recording (2008–2015), working alongside longtime collaborator and Ultraviolet Co-Founder Matt Boynton. What started as a music-focused partnership soon expanded into the podcasting world, where Melissa identified a clear need: a company that could not only polish content in post, but actively support engaging, high-quality storytelling from ideation to distribution.

Today, she continues to lead the company with a focus on streamlined systems, creative excellence, and a deep respect for the behind-the-scenes magic that powers every great story told through sound - and now, sight. Under her leadership, Ultraviolet has grown into a trusted production partner for media companies, brands, and independent producers.

Matt Boynton

Co-Founder & Head of Audio

With a career spanning over two decades, Matt has established himself as a leading figure in the audio engineering landscape. He began his audio journey in 2001 at the legendary Magic Shop Recording Studio, where he honed his skills under the mentorship of some of NYC’s top engineers and producers. He later founded Vacation Island Recording in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a studio that quickly became a hub for indie artists like MGMT, Kurt Vile and The Breeders.

Transitioning into the realm of podcasting and television in 2015, Matt co-founded Ultraviolet with Melissa. His leadership and expertise in mixing, mastering, and sound design has been instrumental in producing acclaimed podcasts such as Note to Self and 2 Dope Queens for WNYC Studios; Aria Code for WQXR+The Met Opera; At Liberty for the ACLU; Proof, Mystery Recipe, and The Walk-In for America’s Test Kitchen; and Ten Percent Happier, More than a Feeling and Childproof for Ten Percent Happier.
