WHO WE ARE

Melissa McAllister

Co-Founder and CEO

Melissa McAllister is the Co-Founder and CEO of Ultraviolet. She was a Managing Partner at Vacation Island Recording from 2008 - 2015 with her UVA Co-Founder, Matt Boynton. Over the next few years their partnership evolved to include engineering work in podcasting and she quickly recognized a need for a company that specializes in post-audio.

Ultraviolet was formed intentionally to elevate the audio arts -  scoring, mixing, editing, sound design and all of the (formerly) unglamorous parts of podcasting. Being completely unskilled and unintuitive in the audio arts herself - and suspecting sorcery may be involved - Melissa believes audio professionals and engineers should be recognized for the essential role they play in rich, substantive storytelling and reporting.

Leveraging the power of the audio arts, she has positioned UVA to support producers, media companies, and brands throughout the production process - not just at the end in the traditional post- process. In 2022, she is leading the company in expanding to Technical Direction and Production, while tightening up the systems that hallmark our streamlined and efficient approach to audio arts.

Matt Boynton

Co-Founder and COO

Matt began his audio career in 2001 at the legendary Magic Shop Recording Studio, learning from some of the best engineers and producers in NYC. A few years later he opened Vacation Island Recording in Williamsburg where he worked with artists including MGMT, Kurt Vile, Hospitality, Black Dice and Gang Gang Dance. Recent music projects include mixing The Breeders All Nerve, mastering and audio restoration for Woody Guthrie - The Tribute Concerts and remastering Blondie's Parallel Lines, Eat To the Beat, Autoamerican, and The Hunter. In 2015, his focus shifted to post production audio for podcasts and television. As a result he and Melissa co-founded Ultraviolet. His work can be heard on shows from WNYC Studios (Note to Self, 2 Dope Queens, Sooo Many White Guys, Trump Inc., Here's the Thing), WQXR (Aria Code), the ACLU (At Liberty), America’s Test Kitchen (Proof, Mystery Recipe, The Walk-In), Radiotopia (ZigZag), Ten Percent Happier (Ten Percent Happier with Dan Harris, Twenty Percent Happier with Matthew Hepburn and Childproof with Yasmeen Khan).
